Extravagance in the wilderness. Sounds a bit ironic, doesn’t it? Yes. Ironic but possible.
Camping is a perfect time to rough it and suck up to all the exciting conundrums in the outback. It’s also a great time to go off-the-grid and survive with just a mere supply of water and your tent as a camping essential…NOT!
1. Water Bottles with Filters
One major problem in camping is clean water supply. This is the bitter truth in camping: The farther you go deeper in the jungle, the farther you are from the cleanest water source. Assuming that you’ve already ruled out bringing gallons of water from the base to the campsite (because you know it’s the smartest thing to do), finding fresh and clean water is a real struggle in the jungle. And although the rivers and streams might lure you to take that refreshing sip, there’s just too much bacteria and other contaminants which can lead to a number of problems. So I’d think twice if I were you.
With the emergence of water bottles with stages of filtration, you can take camping to the next level and hydrate anytime you want from almost any water body (except seawater though).
2. Solar Panels
Let’s face it, some people also want to bring their social media with them when camping. It’s okay to admit if you’re one of them (I am too). With solar panels, you don’t have to worry about your phone’s battery or a speaker for audio entertainment perhaps. But social media aside, solar panels are also very important for lighting and cooking. And it’s too portable, it’s hard not to take them with you!
3. Collapsible Camping Gadgets
This is definitely a must-bring! When I was once introduced to collapsible camping gadgets, I’m now always on the lookout for new innovations in this category. The upper hand you get from these is it’s portable, convenient, and saves a lot of space in your backpack. My top picks are a collapsible kettle, cookware, pots, cups, bowls, a bucket, and if you really want a 5-star accommodation in a 1-star setup, a collapsible hot tub!
4. Hand-powered Coffee Maker
There’s always a perfect time and place for good coffee. And camping in the wilderness is one of them! Don’t settle with instant coffee which is too bitter or too acidic. You don’t deserve that. If you’ve trekked for hours and had a long day in the jungle, the least you can give yourself is good coffee in the morning. So don’t forget to put this in your backpack!
5. Bio Stove with USB Charger
Calling all outdoor environmentalists out there! This is the crackerjack in camping gadgets. Not only does this light quickly, and generates clean energy, but it also charges your mobile phone at the same time because of excess energy! All you have to do is gather sticks, pine cones, or pellets and you’re on your way to a delectable dinner…while listening to a good playlist!
